    Trailer brake emergency cable

Does anyone know where I can get a new breakaway cable that's more like a bungee cord? I have alot of slack in mine and it got caught on something when I was in a sharp turn so wonder if something like a bungee would be better. Also does anyone remove the cable from the trailer when it's in storage? Wondering if I should remove it and lock it up. Thanks.

If you remove it without disconnecting your batteries, you will have a constant 12V going to the brakes. I wouldn't.

It you pull the black plug out of the box on the side of the pin box, the magnets for your brakes will be energized until the battery dies. That's how the "break away" works. No need to remove the cable, leave it in place so you don't forget to connect it before you tow.
