    Pelican Roost RV Park

Pelican Roost RV Park is located on Mayport Naval Station, Jacksonville, Fl. The Base is located on the St John's River where it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. This campground is a military campground and is only opened to Active Duty, National Guard, Reservists, Retired Military, and DoD Civilian employees.

We camped here in June of this year and enjoyed it very much. The campground is clean and offers 30/50A, water, and sewer. The Base has all the ammenties, Commissary, NEX, pool, Officer/NCO-Enlisted Clubs, and their own private beach on the ocean. The campground faces the River, just east of the port.

What I enjoyed the most was the ships leaving and returning to port. I'm not a Navy man, but I think the ships stationed there were Destroyers. There were also two small submarines docked (definetly not nucelar) while we were there.

    I'll post some pictures:

Not only were Navy ships coming and going, there were also cargo ships and the Carnival Fascination enterning and leaving the Jacksonville Port.

In August, Cill and I took a cruise on the Carnival Fascination. I took this picture of the campground from one of the upper decks.

The beach is absolutely beautiful. Isn't that a military park? In Florida? I think I remember reading something about it on another RV site.
