Poor cable TV signal in RV Park - need signal booster?

We've had the same issue at several RV parks that have cable TV included - we get very fuzzy channels on our single TV in our new Reflection 323BHS. We definitely turn OFF the antennae booster and use quad-shielded cable.

The picture reception at the main office locations are always clear and great, but at out sites (at several locations across the country), ours is still poor.

Wondering if anyone has bought a separate cable signal booster that you plug in and install in the outside control center? My working assumption is the long runs and many splits in RV parks cause the signal degradation, but was wondering if anyone has another diagnostic - wiring inside the RV perhaps? Or if anyone has installed a small powered booster, did that help?

    Thanks

I would pull out the plates with the hook ups on and try to tighten the connectors.

They are notorious for vibrating loose.

You might try running coax directly from the pedestal to the input on the TV, bypassing the internal trailer wiring. This will at least help you localize the problem.

I've yet to find park-provided cable that was worth hooking up (with the exception of an Escapees co-op park or two where the systems are owned by the co-op members and they have a vested interest). We use "Dish For My RV" with the Flex Pack and get the HD channels we select - and great signal quality.

Try using the sat connection instead of the cable. No splitters in that line to weaken the signal.

If there was a drastic change, you probably have a loose connection along the way.

I kind of gave up on good reception. If I run the cable through the slide out directly to the tv it is great, but if it is ran through the trailer it is very sketchy at best. I wondered if the board that splits all the signals was bad. I have checked all connections, and yes I turn off the booster when hooked to cable. I mostly just use tv antenna now. Just wish it worked as it is supposed to.

Most, if not all, RV parks run there cable with dozens if not hundreds of splitters. Each splitter drops the quality of the picture. the office probably is the first drop, your campsite is likely after many, many splits. No way to improve the picture.

There's another thread here that describes how one owner put a "hull-through" connection in the bottom of the slide. He bypasses all the lossy, loosely connected, and split too many times GD cabling with a direct, high quality, single run of RG-6.

At *best*, a 1:2 splitter decreases the strength of each output by a half.
