Which model do you tow with your 2500 diesel???
Hello all.....my wife and I have been RVing for about 7 yrs now and are looking to go full-time in a year or two once we retire. We are sold on Grand Design but unsure of which model. We definitely want a 5th wheel but are kind of limited due to my truck. I have a 2015 Silverado 2500 crew cab Duramax. So I ask.....what are you towing with your 2500 diesel?
Thanks everyone!!!

Thanks Lenwhite. Is that the Momentum 350 and what make of truck? I've been told by people more knowledgeable than myself that I should be looking in the 14klbs range. Yours is more like 16.5k range isn't it?

Also pulling my momentum 350m with a 2016 2500 Ram Diesel. Pulls great! I added airbags which help to level it as well as a pretty big sway bar on the back. I don't feel any uneasyness when turning and changing lanes while pulling.

The 350M has an unloaded hitch weight of 2825 lbs according to GDRV. I'd be willing to bet that's over the payload capacity of your truck by itself. I have a 2016 Silverado 2500 LTZ Duramax and 2825 lbs is several hundred lbs over it's payload capacity. By the time you load the trailer with your stuff the hitch weight will be even higher, I would guess well North of 3k lbs. Your payload capacity also includes the weight of anything you put in the truck bed or cab, including driver and passenger, pushing your payload even higher. Something to consider.
I tow a 315RLTS travel trailer and my truck pulls it quite nicely. It has plenty of power but if I really wanted a 5th wheel of the size of the 350M I would seriously consider trading for a 1 ton truck.

Hi tsm,
I've got some good news for you. First off, we are towing our new 2017 377mb with a Chevy 2500HD dsl. extd cab, short bed. We are planning on going "Full time" in the near future. Been RVing since early 70's with lots of different rigs. This is beyond a doubt, the "Best Yet". Here are actual specs: Strng axle, 4460#, drve axle, 6100#, trlr axle,11340#, Total axle= 21900#. Close to max, however, we live at 4,000 ft in the mountains, and every trip is up and down the 6% grade, plus where we go. This GM truck handles it without a problem!! The newer Allison transmission takes all the hassle out of it. Our previous truck was an 06 Dually 3500, and honestly did a great job, however the 2011 with the new style Duramax/Allison SWD does even better!! O yeah, other "mythe" was that a slider was mandatory! Wrong, wrong, wrong! B&W Patriot non-slider is perfect.(and much cheaper!) The way the Solitude is designed makes it work!! Cudos to GD!! Good luck on your choice! Great combo!!Ron and Susie
