The parallels between these weight discussions and the current political climate are unmistakable. The hard core payload shamers are blinded by their oddly emotional stance on the topic. They regurgitate whatever they have heard that appears to justify their position and are unwilling to even apply a modicum of logic. They will site conjecture as evidence and misrepresent images simply pulled from the internet. This thread has definitely taken a turn but has become particularly entertaining.

I continued to read about this last night and this morning for a bit (couple of hours). Aside from a couple of unverifiable stories about folks losing everything in court (these folks reportedly exceeded more than just GVWR), there does not seem to be anything out there. Nothing I could find regarding GVWR as a legal limit for RVs... nothing I could find in terms of lawsuits regarding exceeding GVWR and causing injuries. I'd love to see something definitive as well from the non-commercial realm where exceeding GVWR was the primary issue (not GAWR or tire ratings).
Even given the disturbing lack of actual evidence, I'd still speculate that staying under GVWR is a good move in terms of reducing your exposure to punitive damages (coverage for which appears to be both a matter of your policy specifics and individual State law). I'd like to think a coherent argument (e.g., "I'm mechanically equivalent to a truck with a high-enough rating, therefore I'm safe.") would carry the day, but who knows. Integrity and ethics don't seem to matter anymore if they don't serve the team's cause.2017 F-350 CCSB 6.7L

The Pearls-Great thread, you kicked a hornets nest and provided some entertainment.-Thank you Lots of great comments and points made.
I'm a member of the "2" truck party, started with a 2500 SRW and recently moved to a 3500 DRW. I will say the couple of times I've pulled with the 3500 DRW it does "feel" a lot safer and pulls better. May just be mind mind justifying the change. I know the wife feels a lot safer, so mission accomplished. To me it all comes down to you and your traveling partners level of safety and comfort.
My 3500 is a daily driver, and it was a learning curve especially in the winter, but after getting through everyone saying that DRW are terrible in the winter and learning that has not been the case I actually enjoy driving the 3500 DRW better than the 2500 SRW.

Everyone I see in Yuma pull there 5th wheels with F350 SRW. There are some that pull with DRW. I have the Solitude 310 and pull with a Dodge DRW. I went DRW more for safety reason. If I blow a tire I’m good to get somewhere safe.
