Seems like a pattern has developed. First was the Kantleak debacle(which proved it should of been marketed as the “Can & Will Leak Valve”, next up was the leaky grease seals and now this. All of which, owners were never notified of manufacturer defects. Only those in the know got repairs/replacement parts.

The axles should be fine, the springs might be an issue. Just take a look at them and see if they have an arch in them. The curb side is the heavier side on mine and that's where I have the issue. Check for the top of the tire clearance to the floor on both sides. Also look at the tag on the axles to see what the weight rating is. There must of been a mix of Dexter and Lippert axles used through 2018 but for 2019 the Dexter 4400 lbs axles and springs are being used.
    Rob,
I've seen several new 2600RB and 2800BH units that do not have adequate tire clearance. As soon as they are loaded up and the springs begin to settle or yield, contact will be made. This is a design issue which they corrected with the 4400 lb axles and springs which I've not seen in person but most likely they will have additional clearance. My solution so far is spring blocks and if I yield springs on the curb side again, I will look at the heavier 2200lb spring option.

I have the same tires on our trailer, they have around 11,000 miles on them and 9,000 of that was going to Alaska and back. The rub marks on our trailer are worse than what you have and didn't have any issues with the tires. Could be that one tire could have been defective maybe?

    Jim,
I looked at a couple of new 2800BH 2019 trailers last September to see what was in them and they had the Dexter 4400 lbs axles and springs. I had my trailer there too and you could definitely see the ride height difference. I bet there was at least 3 1/2 to 4 inches of clearance between the tires and floor. Mine on the heavy side was only 1 3/4 inch and the street side was 2 3/4 inch. I was really surprised the folks with dexter axles were only 3500 lbs. They also had the in frame slide mechanism in the 2019. I was told from GDRV the UVW difference between mine and the 2019 models is why they went to the 4400 lbs units. But I compared the stickers on the 2019 to mine and it was only 48 lbs heavier on the 2019. The GVWR is higher than mine by around 500lbs. I'm hoping to get the springs this week and start changing them out so we can see what the difference will be.

Of course anything is possible and my assertion is hard to prove but, with GD upgrading the axles and spring in 2019 (because of additional weight?)and I have a 2019 makes me suspicious. The customer service rep said they will be close today and tomorrow due to weather. I asked him to send me an email just to document my complaint, crickets...

Are the 4400lb axles 6 lug? 15"or 16"? I would like to go to the E rated Goodyear 225/75 but the clearance issue prevents that.

According to the new load sticker, 2019's come with 4400 lbs axles, 6 lug and 225/75/15 E rated tires.

I have been doing some research on the Dexter site and found this D35 (3500 lb) axle is 2 3/8" and the D44 (4400 lb) axle is 3". This goes along with what the customer service rep said (post 80).
