    Wfco converter failure? Imagine 2800BH

On a camping trip and realized the battery isn't charging. Showing good 120v going to the converter but no DC coming out. Changed out the reverse polarity fuses and still no luck. Happened a few days ago at our last site but playing with the fuses I got it to work. I guess dumb luck since when we got to our new site last night it was not working again. This time swapping fuses did not work. No, fuses were not blown any time I pulled them.

The unit is approaching 1 year old so seems a bit early for it to fail right?

Are you packing any thing that could be knocking the battery shut off switch in the storage commpartment?

Nope. Sorry, should have been more specific. I have good 12v power from the battery, and the battery is charging when hooked up to my vehicle. I just don't have DC power from the converter when hooked up to shore power (or my generator). I tested the 120v outlet on the back of the breaker panel as well and there is good 120v power getting to the converter.

We are going to swing through bend oregon on our way to crater lake and hope we can convince an rv repair shop to squeeze us in on the spot for replacement. GD said they would cover it since our nearby dealer won't schedule us.

Well, it is confirmed. The converter was bad. Interesting enough after he tested it in the trailer before pulling it, he did get out to function inside his shop. Be did confirm good power to it in the trailer though so he said a connection inside must be bad causing it to fail but sporadically work.
I tell you what, 500 for a new converter (355+labor+tax) makes me glad I would do this myself outside of waranty. I offered to do it myself to GD for cheaper but I understand why that can't just trust people would confirm something is bad before doing their own work.

Mine was not working when we bought new. They installed a brand new battery the day we picked before we picked it up, so the convertor didn't reveal it's non functioning state until that weekend when we were doing our first shakedown trip. After doing all the typical diags, I called GD and told them what I had done to diagnose the issue. They sent a replacement WFCO directly to me. I actually ordered a Progressive the same day as I prefer that one and kept the original model as a spare.

Hopefully the repair shop put in a Progressive converter. They are far, far better and your batteries will like it too. KEN

Yeah, unfortunately all they carried was the 9100 series though (9160) so I had to also get the extra charge wizzard attachment (38$! compared to 23 on amazon) I can't stand how much some of these places up charge. They charged 355 for the converter when the same model anywhere online on the HIGH end is like 230. If GD only would have let me do it myself I could have 1) saved them $200 and 2) gotten a 9200 series at the same time.
