    Road Side insurance

Looking into purchasing road side insurance for our trailer, motor home, and truck. Planning on a trip to Yellowstone from Pittsburgh next year. Just wanted to see what other members are using. Ed

There are several options. We have had good service from CoachNet.

We just added RV coverage to our AAA membership. Price seemed reasonable at the time - don't recall what it was.

We have CN, but are considering a change as we went from a Class C to a TT. With CN up for renewal, how does FMCA stand up?

Not a question specifically for G.W., but for the entire class..

We have Camping world. Just "got upgraded" to Platinum as they state standard will not cover towing a 5th wheel.

I'm not sure where it's at now but Second Chance posted his endorsement of FMCA not long ago. I looked into in some depth and I think it's a good package for the money, beats the heck out of Good Sam. They are established having covered motor coaches for years.

We're new to the forum, and aren't quite up to speed on acronyms and such.

Can someone kindly define "Roadside Insurance", and how it might differ from other insurance coverage?

We currently own a Four Winds 31F, but are upgrading to a Momentum 399th.

I believe the difference is whether your "regular" roadside assistance coverage also covers an RV (5th wheel or trailer). And how much that coverage is.

I think what you speak of is a term that is interchangeable "roadside assistance". Just as AAA will assist to get a flat fixed, a battery to start the car, your car off the road and towed to a mechanic etc. Roadside assistance is a similar service for your RV and/or tow vehicle. The goal is to have some means to contact a place local to your breakdown that can get you the help you need. Some insurance carriers can add it as part of their coverage. I know progressive and National General will do it. Many like to have third party coverage like FMCA I spoke of in a previous post. Coach net and Good Sam are others.

Does anyone carry comprehensive/ collision insurance besides roadside for physical damage? Say if the trailer would overturn while you're towing it, or any damage from weather or vandalism. Do you go through your auto insurance?
