We still have our reservations for our western trip starting in May, June, July. Starting from Indiana to IL, SD, WY, MT, UT, CO, KS, MO back to IN. Some 4500 miles. We estimated $4 / gal for diesel @ $2500 for fuel. We'll have to up that to $5 -6 / gal. In this fast changing world a lot of things can happen and change between now and then. We put off this trip for the last two years because of covid and wildfires, but now we are going, we are not getting any younger and neither is our rig. If we put it off again something will probably happen next year.
We will have to use a lot more of our savings and Yes its going to cost a lot more. We will use a lot more discretion in our spending on the trip, but we are still going.

Are those Canadian or US dollars?

We have a 3,600-miler on the books beginning 1 April. We have reservations all along the way and friends meeting us in Utah. The trip will go on and we'll just bite the bullet.

We went out west last September to several of the National Parks in Utah and AZ and total mileage was 5143 miles. Our lowest price for diesel was OK/TX area at $2.49/gallon, and the highest was $3.99 in Moab. If I remember correctly, we went through 625 gallons of fuel. At today's prices, say $5/gallon, that would be over $3100 for fuel along, not counting camping fees, food, etc. Glad we got it in when we did.

We went to Canada during the last gas/fuel "crisis". I think it was in 2015. Diesel was over $5.00/gallon up there. Maybe it is now. We were never so happy to get back to the US and 'only' pay $4.00/gal...... go figure.....

I’ve got a camping trip scheduled for next week. It’s a 500 mile round trip. At 10 MPG that’s 50 gallons of diesel which will cost close to $250. It’s still worth it at this point but it hurts to think about it.

Then I calculated the same 500 miles to refuel our Nissan Leaf EV with electric would only be $12 at 2-1/2 cents/mile plugged in at home. The Leaf is getting used more and more lately. When we bypass gas stations we still cringe at the cost of liquid fuel.

Still going. 4500 miles or so from NH-SD-NC-NH in May/June. Back again to SD in Aug/Sep and want to make it out to Idaho so figure about 6K miles. Too much invested to let it sit and it's our retirement fun - waited too many years to enjoy.

I will be covering a total of 3100 miles in June, visiting Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone. The first estimation of total fuel cost was $900, based on local cost of Diesel at the time I made my "fuel stop" spreadsheet. Diesel just hit $5.04, so now I'm up to $1600 for the trip.

I just bought me new 5ever last fall and have booked 6 weeks camping already. I estimate about 1,200 miles. Yeah, I'm not happy about the cost of fuel, but, I didn't a new RV to look at it in the driveway, so, I'm planning on using it.

I don't daily drive the truck anymore. I use the wife's car instead to try and save some fuel (money).

I think truck sales are going to tank. All the people that use a truck for groceries and soccer will be ditching them cars. Should be some good deals on trucks.......and probably trailers.
