Lightbulb Our 3540GK & truck weight from CAT Scale

I took advantage of CAT scales at Loves fuel locations to fill my curiosity on the rigs weight. I thought it was around 22k loaded , total overall weight.

Truck is 2021 XL Ford F-350 DRW 4x4, diesel, crewcab, LWB. Bought in march 2021 when trucks were scarce. We like this truck.

RV is 2021 3540GK we bought used. Solitude, S class. No genset. Jaboni solar setup 1 300w panel, 2 wet acid batts group 27.

From my simple math the pin weight appears to be 3560# ?

I included the total weight of rig as we run down the road. Truck tank was full, RV Blk & Grey tanks were empty, with about 20 gallons of fresh water.

Truck weight was about half tank of fuel.... On both weight tickets we were in the truck with all stuff as we travel.

Maybe some insight for other folks here?

Our 3540GK & truck weight from CAT Scale

Lookin good for your truck well within all your limits, and since your weight ticket has the pin weight and hitch weight included, you still have about 1600 lbs for GVWR. Not sure what the payload is for your truck, but the limits you share are well within.

For your trailer, looks like you around 15,200 or so including your pin (approx 3600), so well below GVWR, and you have about 6700 on each axle so within that.

I get 3,720 for pin weight.

    Both axels of loaded truck, 5,200 + 7,220 = 12,420
Both axels of empty truck 8,700 pounds.
    12,420 -8,700 = 3,720 pounds

You have to take weight of both axels and not just the rear axel since some weight is transferred to the front axel when the fifth wheel is hooked up.

Thanks, I did real quick math and forgot the front axle. Still well within his limits.

Tony, you are running about typical weights for your specific rig.

For comparison - Our rig is the 3350RL Solitude S-Class very similar to your rig. Our pin weight is 3550, trailer weight =15,500. Truck weight 13,100.
Total weight truck and trailer =28,600. We fulltime so we are a little heavier, (all we own is in our truck and trailer).
You are right there with the rest of us.
Our trailer runs 500 heavier on the left drivers side than the right passengers side.

Thanks for comments and correcting my math thinking. I was chatting with 2 buddies of mine. We all discussed the front end weight added on , never thought to add it to the pin weight. A simple brain phart I guess?

If I add the pin weight 3760 to the trailer axle weight of 11,660 , that gives me approx weight of the trailer, 15,420 lbs ? That seems correct , a buddy says I need to weigh the trailer alone.

We just returned to AZ from a 6900 mile 2 month road trip. I am glad we have the DRW truck. The winds from AZ across the USA have been very strong everywhere.

Not sure why you would need to weigh the trailer alone. It would just be more work with little new information since you are way below your trailer GVWR. You would need to find a private scale like a rock yard or grain elevator that would allow you to unhook the trailer on their scale. Not worth it.

For bumper pull trailers it is useful to do a separate weigh due to the WD hitch. For a Fiver it’s less important and for no other reason validates your math.

Thanks.. for info. My buddy has traveled in RV for yrs, I sorta look to him for input on larger RV stuff.

18 months ago was our first 5th wheel purchase. A Keystone toy hauler 2 axle 40 ft long unit. That did not fit us well. This Solitude we really like. We miss the motorcycle, but this Solitude just fits us well.
