Fan Sound When Power Is Hooked Up
Solitude 377MBS
We left on a trip today and while traveling we ran the refrigerator on battery using the inverter.
Got to camp site and started setting up. When I plugged in power to the unit immediately a fan sound started. You can hear the fan sound the best from the bunk room. These’s a plastic grate/vent on the wall and that’s where the fan sound is coming from. It won’t go off. I’m thinking it’s the inverter fan but the inverter is turned off. I tried to take the grate/vent off but both screws are completely stripped. Kind of weird since this is a new unit (3rd Trip).
Any ideas on what it is and how to fix?
Thanks,
MarkMark & Diana

Probably the converter fan charging your 12 v battery and running 12 v loads from 110 v system. Try turning all 12 v systems off (lights, pumps, fridge, phone chargers) and see if fan stops. If it does then it is converter fan and nothing to worry about and is normal to have it run under load

Definitely the converter cooling fan.

How long were you traveling with the Refer running off the batteries? Likely the the load of the fridge drew down the batteries, which then cause the converter to go into boost mode, which then generated heat, which triggered the converter cooling fan. Seems everything operated as it should have. Fan should turn off after a period of time.

I’ve been hooked up to shore power for over 24 hours and the Converter fan has run most of that time. It has cut off 2or 3 times but comes back on after a little while. Currently running again and have very little load as lights are off.
Seems like a long time......Mark & Diana

If it's coming out a vent on a slide, it's probably going to be the fan that's cooling down the refrigerator coils.
The converter/inverter fan is mounted in the basement of my trailer. When I cut on the light in the bathroom, it cuts on usually.
