The non-HDPP truck referenced in my earlier post was running absolutely stock suspension and P tires. I haven't done a lot of research into the Ecoboost exhaust leak problems, but it seems like it might go along with those who run "tuner" calibrations. OEM engine calibrations build in a safety margin. Most aftermarket power increase calibrations accomplish this by removing the OEM safety margin.

You can't get "HDPP" without "Max Tow" being already included. Max Tow consists of the OE trailer brake controller, the hitch receiver and maybe some additional trans cooling. HDPP adds more engine and trans cooling, a third full length spring to the rear suspension, a larger/stronger rear axle and LT tires. Also heavier front springs and different damper tuning front & rear. A quick check is axle ratio. Only HDPP has a 3.73 ratio.

ironically enough, on the Ford website specs for 2019, you cannot get the 3.5L motor with the 3.73

    Hi Dean,

Ford has always made the HDPP package hard to find. I think they do this on purpose. The attached is from the 2019 F150 brochure. You can also find it in the "capabilities" section with footnotes on axle ratio required for heaviest payload. When we bought ours, we had to work with the Ford sales rep and her online order guide to force the axle ratio and the 3.5L Ecoboost . . . and the rest of the HDPP "popped up".

it is also odd that the maximum F150 towing capacity in their chart is achieved with the 3.55, not the 3.73.

What difference does it make when you will be over payload long before you get to max tow capacity?

See earlier discussion in this thread. Max Tow does not increase Payload. HDPP get the upgrades that increase Payload.

How does it ride empty? What truck did you have before that you are comparing the ride too?
    Thanks

It rides pretty good. Definitely less "truck like" than a 250 with plow springs that I am familiar with, and stiffer than a cowboy Cadillac 150 with normal springs. Not unpleasant at all. I expect that to stiffen even more when I put a roadmaster active suspension and bilsteens on the back.
