Protecting bicycles while hauling them on the back of the 5er
What brands/models of cover do you all recommend for protecting bicycles while carrying them on the back of the 5er?

A cover to use in motion is a lot of effort to install and remove. It was so aggravating we didn’t want to use the bikes. I finally gave up and just cover them when parked.

I feel sorry for the bicycles being hauled on the back of rv's attached at a hitch.
We were traveling west on 26 just east of Sandy, Oregon. It's raining cats and dogs. We catch up to a 374TH Solitude with a hitch installed on the back. The poor bicycles are bouncing up and down with the hitch, covered but being drown by all the water coming up off the highway.
I just hope their bicycles down get shook to death.

I use an extra large outdoor grill cover (mine is over 10 years old and still holding up well). We have 2 mountain bikes we have put on our carrier on the back of the 5th wheel. We secure the cover with nylon straps and bungee cords. The bungees are there to cinch the cover. Never had an issue with the cover coming loose. It keeps the bikes dry and keeps them from getting too dirty. I usually attach the cover to the ladder as well with the nylon straps to keep the bikes from bouncing. I use a Swagman E-Spec 2.0 hitch that is RV and 5th wheel rated. It is very solid and easy to use.
The cover maybe takes 5 extra minutes to attach and about 2 minutes to remove. It folds up nicely when we are at our destination.2021 - Grand Design Solitude S-2930RL

We use the Pro Bike Tool brand. Also had Skinz in the past.

We/ve been using a Swagman bike bag to cover out 2 e-bikes. Once you figure it out it is great and easy to zip up once the bikes are mounted.
The best part is that this is a bag. It has a bottom and completely encloses the bikes. We had a 'cover' at first - it didn't keep the bikes very clean or dry.Last edited by traveldawg; 06-16-2021 at 07:45 PM.
