Plumbing Rebuild and Kantleak Replacement
This past week I worked on replacing my Anderson KantLeak valve with a new Anderson RValve (all brass). While doing the valve replacement I decided to remove all the "flex" hose from the plumbing system. The attachment outlines all the work done with photos. We are out this weekend testing the new configuration.
In the end, the ounce of prevention should allow for fewer plumbing related issues. Over the past 12 months, I had a hot water flex line burst and some fitting failures. I have a valve on the water inlet that permits me to turn off city water behind the locked door and dump any water pressure before leaving camp. My original plan was to replace every line of pipe in the coach and utilize a manifold system. Maybe when I retire, I will have the time for a more elaborate plan. For now the rebuild should instill more confidence in the plumbing configuration.

Great write up, thanks for documenting the whole thing. This would be a great addition to the Referance Library , do you mind if I put a copy of the thread there?

Like what you did with the system. Curious, do you have a separate shut off valve for the fresh water tank located on the front of the water service panel? Did you have problems reaching your hot water tank?

Lyle - excellent work ! Thanks for sharing this. I suspect there will be a few folks (increasing in number over time) who will need to update the original Kantleak panel. If they do not do it themselves, sharing this with a dealer or other party who does the work will be valuable.

I have a shutoff valve on the front of the panel where the city water enters to the filtration system but not where the softener enters to the main RValve. Having the valve on the front of the panel permits me to shutoff the water supply and keep it locked when I leave the RV. I still have to adjust the RValve settings to fill the fresh water tank.
The flexibility of PexA allowed me to flex the pipe to easily reach the hot water tank. I just made some soft curves in the pipe to reaching the hot water tank from the RValve.
I have about 300 hours on the new plumbing system and it's performed very well. I like the predictability of water pressure using the fresh water tank and water pump versus connecting to city water. If I need more water in the fresh water tank while out, I have the filtration system to ensure I am getting good water in the tank.
I am hoping to find time after the holidays to further the design of the system where the pump will be the primary supply to the coach and the level of the fresh water tank will automatically draw city water when the level reaches a predetermined minimum level. My initial design is looking to add an additional upper tank supply line with a manual float, maybe electronic, level monitor where a solenoid valve would open and supply water until it reaches a predetermined maximum level.

Question; how did you fit the PEX A onto the fittings? PEX A has a smaller inside diameter then PEX B and one needs to use the expansion tool to expand the PEX A to fit over the fitting.

I called Uponor and asked if their PexA required their expansion system. They stated I could use the stainless steel crimp rings with no issues. The PexA fits easily over the standard Pex fittings.
