Hey Paul - good to see a post from you. I know you have kinda wound down from the forum posting. I don't do FB but may have to have a look at this semi. What FB site is it ?
By the way, I usually don't read "signatures" that are novels but you got me smiling at the inclusion of the "Exterior Beer Bottle Opener !" lol I recall that you had it just forgot.
Hope you and Deb are well.

Hey Dan, I'm here all the time but seldom respond anymore.
He used to be on the Grand Design Owner's FB Page but I went to search for him and I can no longer find him anywhere. I believe his name was Josh Russell. Since that picture he got the semi tractor and painted it to match. He also filled the Solitudes wheel openings and added storage compartments all along the trailer. I wish I could find the posts but the rig was truly amazing. Actually, I bet he quit because he got so much sh!t from the idiots on FB constantly criticizing his rig.
He was a very cool guy and, as I said, the entire project was legit.

Phew. In that first picture, I was thinking "OMG, how much does that pin weigh" and wondering how the tires on that SRW truck weren't blowing out sitting there! A semi, no problem, but a SRW.. Not a chance. Doubt even a dually could handle the pin weight of this thing, a triple gooseneck trailer is probably already 1-1.5K on the pin, before you put a Solitude on it ENTIRELY in front of the axles! Got to think that's in the 10K range for pin weight, no?
Thing I'm wondering, why build this on a triple flatbed instead of a tandem dual? Much better axles, more/heavier tires, oil bath hubs.. I've often wondered whey there are so many triple RVs and basically 0 tandem duals, when you start looking at big trailers (non-RV), once you get to around 20K in weight, most start to go to tandem dual setups. Triples are a little cheaper, but they are much less preferred, less weight handling and harder to maneuver. The difference on a flatbed like this, assuming it's a 21K setup, might be 3-4K to go to tandem duals. It's amazing to me that RV's don't have this as an option regularly, and even more amazing, if you're going to build on a flatbed to haul with a semi, why wouldn't you use a TD setup?!
