    There's a Timken factory <5 miles from my house in SC. Not sure they make the bearings that fit our rigs, but it looks like a production facility, not an office building.

    My concern with the Dexter EX Lube system is that it fills the entire center of the wheel with grease. From my research, bearings just need to be greased sufficiently. Over-greasing and filling the wheel cavity between the two bearings can cause a lack of heat dissipation. In addition, when pumping grease into the wheel, how do you know how much to apply? Seems like it would be very easy to pump the lubricant out the back seal.

    A lot of folks like the Dexter EX Lube system, and if it works for you, good.

    I check bearings once a year, and remove clean replace every other year. I have never found a issue and I feel I probably don't need to do it that often, considering the miles I put on my trailer. I do know an issue while on the road is something you don't want to incur.

    @dryfly ,

    As you are rolling the wheel and slowly pushing grease in, you'll start to see the grease out at the washer start to bulge, as soon as you see that you can stop spinning the wheel and stop slowly pushing grease in. It's pretty obvious and easy to see when it starts bulging.

    Was just reading the club cobra site forum about Timken bearings. A lot of upset people because Timkens are made in china. What they do is ship them to the USA and box them in the USA. That way they can put USA on the box but it sould say boxed in the USA. Take the bearing out and you should see the part # and made in china stamped on it.

    I believe that Bower/BCA are still good old American bearings.

    It appears that NTN has bought a lot of bearing companies including Bower/BCA And are producing them in the good ol USA. I apologize about Timken many o,f theirs are being made in the USA again too. For a while all bearings were fromj china. Glad to see they are starting to come back.

    Speaking of grease and new trailers... Let's see why my brandy new 14k gross dump had nearly no brakes.... Could it be that Lippert sprayed the drums with an anti corrosive coating? Yep, I do think that this is the case. All 4 drums....

    So, scrub each shoe with scotch brite and brake clean until pristine, scrub the drum and magnet faces until no residue comes off, reassemble, tighten adjusters until it drags, back off 2 clicks.... Amazing! We now skid at 3 in the brake control, before maxed out at 10 it was barely felt.

    When I had my previous rig done last time (Reflection 337RLS with MORryde independent suspension), my mobile tech in New Mexico charged $500. He removed the hubs and took them back to his shop at his house where he has a parts washer, bearing packer, etc. This price included all the new seals, coming to my location, and all miscellaneous items. It's good insurance and well worth it.
