2019 303 RLS Entry Door, Slam Latch, Cam Lock Replacement

This was my little project for today. Replaced OEM equipment with the following from RV Locks:

    Entry Door: https://www.rvlock.com/collections/f...keypad-for-rvs

Slam Latches on Pass-Thru Storage: https://www.rvlock.com/collections/f...artment-handle

    Front Storage Compartment: https://www.rvlock.com/collections/f...vlock-cam-lock

Entry door took about 20 minutes with at least 10 of that trying to program the darned key-fob. For those doing this, once you enter "Programming mode" you have a max of 10 seconds to set your new code...and that 10 seconds seems more like 5. Removal of the OEM lock was simple - new one fit perfectly.

Slam Latches installation was simple. Removal of OEM front face is via 4 screws from the backside (see in photos below on right). New RV Lock drops in. Given the backing plate is riveted in via 4 rivets at top, I chose not to drill them out (at least at this time). Also, new backing plate is plastic too so no strength benefit to change. Screw holes in OEM backing plate matched perfectly with the new RV lock front side.

Note the RV Lock backing plate on left is larger and deeper than the OEM plate. Given that, I had to use the OEM screws as the ones that come with the new latch are too long to be used with the OEM plate. Only "problem" was there was a slight gap on the right lower side of the latch. I'll put a little silicone in there to keep out moisture. It really isn't noticeable unless you know it's there.

The cam lock replacement was simple. I'm going to re-think the security of the front compartment. The locking cam latch catches on a thin, very pliable metal lip that really provides no security. One can undo the two latches on either end, pull on the ends and pop the center locking latch out with very little effort. I'm going to think about how to beef up that lip.

It's nice to have a single key to open all bays and the entry door now.

Very nice mod. I was about to jump on this mod but the price of the entry door lock gave me a bit of pause.

I did the same replacement. You can get a pre-cut sticker to cover the gaps from RV Lock, but they charge for it; I needed one for the door and for each of the slam latches. I think the sticker should be included. i put two of the cam locks in front and moved the thumb lock to the center.

    That’s a good idea, thanks.

I'm ready to order a new main door latch and 2 pass-thru latches, and the idea of having all keyed alike is perfect. And, I like the idea of replacing the cam locks for the storage area under our bedroom slide too, putting a lock in each corner, with just the thumb lock in the center.

But...for storage area below the bedroom slide....I removed the cam lock and measured it, and then measured the door thickness, and then looked at the measurement of the lock on the RVLock website, it appears that the cam lock on our RV is just slightly longer than what is available for order. These locks only come in the one length... 1.125". And the door thickness looks to be a bit more than the "up to 1" thick" as indicated on the RVLock website.

The main door and pass-thru latches will fit. But, I don't think the cam locks from the RVLock site will work on our RV, a 2018 315RLTS. Am I wrong? Where else can I find the cam locks that will fit?

    Thanks!!

Their camlock does NOT fit on our 315 storage door (under the bed) as you suspect. I have one still in it's baggie 'cause it didn't fit and there's no other place to install it.

    I still have three keys.

I'm getting all of my locks keyed the same from:
    http://www.rvlocksandmore.com/LocksKeys/Locks

Door locks, slam locks (x8 on a 28BH) and front cam locks are all going to be replaced with ones that are keyed alike.
