Maine trip planning

My husband and I managed a campground near Bar Harbor for 3 years and fell in love with Maine. Unfortunately, almost everything closes down at the end of September.

That has really changed. Bar Harbor and Acadia now are fully open and busy thru October. Many locals said it was just as busy in the park in September and October as it is in August. We were there on October 31st last year and it was still busy! The RV park we stayed at was fully open until Nov 15 and had winter sites all winter long.

We've stayed at Atlantic Oaks and it was an excellent jumping-off point for exploring Cape Cod. While we haven't been to Hadley's Point, Bar Harbor, and neighboring Acadia National Park are two great places to visit.
