Ladder popped

Has anyone else had this happen to them? My ladder seems to have frozen and popped open at the bottom. Is this still safe?

Now that's a freaky occurance. Can't say I've ever seen that, wonder if the tubing contained water. Looks like a warranty claim. I don't think it looks unsafe unless you're on the very heavy side. Just don't step on that corner in the mean time.

On 2nd thought, is that where a support bar should be ?

IMO, that style ladder needs a small hole at the bottom of the loop to prevent water from accumulating inside it.

Mike and Jen - agree with feedback......first time I have ever seen or heard of this...hmm. Believe your assessment that water/liquid was inside, froze ,and split the tube seems correct.

Not knowing how much weight will be stepping on the ladder it is hard to determine if safe. Maybe up to a couple hundred lbs OK.....350 lbs....well !

I think most of these ladders are aluminum. Maybe get a welding shop who does heliarc welding to take a look and possibly repair. And then yes, drill a hole in the bottom to drip out any future water. I would also want to determine how liquid got in there and seal up as may be appropriate.

I purchased my 2023 2600RB the first part of Oct 2022. On my first trip out a month later I noticed my ladder had split in two locations. As mentioned in other responses there is no holes in the bottom to allow the moisture that may collect in the tubing to drain out. My dealer is replacing my ladder when I take in for service this month, and if they don't drill holes in it I will. I would be careful using it split, as recommend by others I would replace it or have it welded.
