Happy New Year - thawing shrimp

Well it's New Years Eve and we are thinking happy thoughts. We had planned on going out to night to an outdoor music festival and fireworks. But as the thermometer reached zero and was still descending we decided to stay home and have a wonderful New Years Eve dinner.

We bought some frozen shrimp cocktail for appetizer, King Crab Legs (OMG the price), Ceaser salad and baked potato. Yummy. Home about 4:30 put the shrimp on the counter to thaw so we could nibble later. 5:30 roles around and the shrimp are not thawed. 6pm rolls around and they are still not thawed. Ok we are working tomorrow so we can't wait till midnight for the shrimp. I had an idea.

The shrimp got thawed, the crab got cooked, we drank some wine. 6am will come too soon so we are just going to relax by the fireplace, count our blessings, make plans for the next year, and Have a Very Happy New Year!!!!!!

Thanks VinceB, we do the same. I just thought it was funny that the shrimp cocktail could sit on the counter for an hour and not thaw, we certainly didn't have that problem when we lived in Florida.
