Pulling 380th. 2015 SRW Cummins
I have a 380th, that I pull with my srw ram 2500 with factory air suspension.
Naturally the truck came before the trailer, and I figured at the time of purchase it would be plenty of truck for any trailer that came down the road.
Of course 2 years later I purchased the largest heaviest model just about known to man.
I've pulled this thing for the last 2 years a total of around 7700mi with this vehicle just fine. However my girlfriends anxiety is through the roof constantly when pulling, and technically my rating is 17,980 and my trailer weighed in the scale at 17,160 without anything in the garage and no water. However I did have gear in the storage compartment and full LP tanks.
Pin weight would really be the kicker here. Payload rating at 2960 for the truck. Pin weight on the 380th is around 3700 I believe.
So the age old question arises. Upgrade the truck, or downgrade the trailer. Or carry on and monitor tire pressures, condition, and other precautionary measures as normal.
But as the saying goes, if you have to ask the question, you probably already have the answer.

Then you don't have 2960 for payload or 17,980 for towing. Per Rams tow chart a SB 4x4 CTD has a tow raring of 17,210 and a CCC of 2380 with the auto. Probably more like 2100-2200. Thats for a 2018. Pretty much 2014-2018 are the same. Me thinks you're way over on many ratings.

Like you said , you already know the answer , and the dealer should have never allowed you to do this.

It may move that trailer "just fine", but hope and pray that you are never in an accident, as they will fine you to the moon and and back when they look at the weight ratings.

Pulling 380th. 2015 SRW Cummins
I have a 2014 Ram SWB Crew Cab Laramie Diesel, and even though the GVWR is 11995 on my 303rls, We travel with it at 10,700. I’ve had it weighed at two different rallies and I only have about 200 lbs of pin weight left. So needless to say the OMG statements are correct. You definitely need a dually or a smaller trailer.
