Man.......I'm thinkin' the same thing. There seems to be enough interest in the subject that maybe the moderators should consider a sub-section in the forum dedicated to it.

You are probably right. Every time I come up with a good idea someone wants to flush it down the toilet.

I will second this. Never ever have I had a problem. There are usually rocks next to the dump and when I first started RVing, I wondered what those were used for.

You just haven't been to enough places then, it does happen. I've had it happen a couple times over the last 15 years or so. If the sewer opening is above ground level, and there's nothing to hold it in place, it will pop out when the hose fills up and the weight over comes gravity.

Or maybe, just maybe, I am doing something right?

Does not matter, I can say, it has never happened to me and I hope to be able to say that tomorrow too.

Many places in the Midwest the dump stations don't use screw fittings. When you dump the water can cause the slinky to twist or, if the dump tube sticks up out of the ground, it can pull the business end right off. Balancing rocks may be a partial answer, but my past indicates I'm not very talented at doing so. I can't rely on that to save me from contaminating the area.

BTW: I also keep a spray bottle of bleach water and use it to clean up the area around the station before I leave.

Doing something right means the hose is prevented from moving, rubber stopper, rocks, weights, hose support, etc., otherwise the weight of the water in the hose will pull the hose out of the connection. In some cases, gravity is not your friend.
