Arrow First night in our Imagine XLS

    Howdy group!

We’re new here, in fact just purchased our first Grand Design RV. Our 23bhe made the tow up from Arkansas to Missouri with no issues. Tonight after hooking up at the camp site we noticed a problem with the AC. The 20 amp breaker (number 4) was tripped and no AC. Reset the breaker and all was fine until about 15 minutes later and it tripped again. I’m suspecting the electric water heater being turned on is what tripped it, but that should be another circuit I would think. Turned off the water heater to hope for cool air our first night.

Any input from the group is much appreciated. Thanks!

The circuit breakers should be clearly marked for the major appliances and you should be able to tell if the AC and water heater are on the same circuit. They're almost always on separate breakers. If the AC is on its own circuit by itself, you might have a faulty circuit breaker.

Forum hint: you can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question. You can create a signature by going to:

Forum Actions (on menu bar) -> Edit Profile -> Edit Signature (under My Settings on the left)

    Happy camping!

You probably checked this already but make sure the Main breaker is 30amp. Ours came from the factory with a 15amp and caused things to trip depending on what we were running. Dealer fixed it quickly for us.

First photo is our converter as it came from the factory with a 15amp far left breaker. Second is from another XLS owner to help me diagnose the problem.

Here’s mine. Looks like a 30 amp main and “W/H” and A/C on separate breakers, as labeled anyway. Haven’t traced the actual wiring but no problems since keeping the electric water heater option off. Using electricity for the AC and propane for hot water seems to work all day long.
