At this point you need to decide whether it’s worth it to start over again, wait another 4-6 months and pay substantially more because of the price increases that happened since you placed the order in the summer. If money and time are no issues, maybe you can walk away and order another unit from another dealership; otherwise chances are this unit is more or less fine, despite the dealership shady practices.

Thanks, that clears it up for me. If your deal is really good having bought back in August, I'd probably cave and save the money, and count on good customer service from Grand Design. How far is the dealer? If more than an hour, I'd still push to do this in one day because of your travel time. Then you could inspect the unit first. Could try the financing leverage. Dealer will get a big kick-back with their financing. If signing and PDI are different days, I would push that the paperwork is dated for the delivery date and not the purchase date, particularly for start of warranty. There are probably state laws around this. In different times, you certainly could walk, but if you are walking away from many thousands of dollars of savings, you need to figure out how important that is to you. One good thing is you could probably turn around and sell the unit for what or more than you paid.

Yikes ! - not quite the helpful response I was expecting during this season of giving from our long time forum friend, Steve ! Understand about the relationship between GDRV and dealers autonomy. However having John and Robin talk with the right person at GDRV to learn (shall we say expectation by the dealer) to help them with their tough position right now may be helpful.
Don't ever recall you being a Grinch before but maybe coal is in the cards for your stocking this year lol !!

Dealer is 20 minutes away. Price didn't go up after the order in August. Reading through the contract, they are charging $995 for a "Peace of Mind Package" different from GDs which I confirmed is I'm paying for the PDI plus some extras they throw in. I called today and said I'm willing to pay up front for that if they will do the PDI and provide me the results of the 255 point check prior to purchase. That answer was also no. Paperwork will be dated delivery date.
If we were to order another Solitude, I'd be waiting at least 14 weeks and probably paying quite a bit more for it with no guarantee that the quality would be any better or more supply chain issues wouldn't crop up. It's a c**p shoot either way and just bad business.Robin & John

There's literally no one at Grand Design that can make a dealer do anything like that.
I'm not being a Grinch at all....just realistic.
They can try calling Customer Service and complain, but I don't see anything happening on the manufacturer's end.
Oh, and coal isn't such a bad idea this year, with fuel oil at an all time high....LOLSteve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com

Try negotiating a if any problems from pdi they will be taken care of in a timely manner. No having to wait an extended period of time for it to happen.
