    Maybe getting Ram 3500 DWR

So, I'm flying home from my gig to possibly buy a 2019 Ram 3500 DWR. Dealers seem to be stuck with 2019 models, which results in some savings on my end Been working with a sales guy via phone and pics, but when it comes to getting the truck's payload and GCWR, it's been smoke and mirrors--like he doesn't even know where to look. I ask payload, and I get 35,100 lbs which is Ram's max tow. Then he tells me that GCWR, which I doubt because it's got the high output Cummins and Aisin transmission. I ask for the sticker in the door, and he sends it. GVWR is 14000, and it has the axle ratings. But I still don't know where to get the actual GCWR and Payload for the truck. I suppose I could get payload if I could get curb weight and do math, but I haven't even seen that...

Ram owners, where on the truck or in the truck's documentation do I get the payload or curb weight and GCWR?

Take a look here. Scroll to the bottom and there's a link to "look up my vehicle". You should be able to put the vin in the box and get the specs for that specific truck. I wish everyone had that...

Thanks @TheGuy That was extremely helpful. Is there anywhere on the truck or in the truck's paperwork I can look to confirm those numbers?

Here is what your sticker should look like

You’ll see the GVWR on it

The other sticker in the door jam will have your payload numbers

Shame a salesman knows so little Click image for larger version.

    Oh and the link below,

    https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

enter your Vin here and get the factory build sheet (different than a window sticker)

On our 2018 Ram the GCWR is not listed on the truck door jam. Only the GVWR and payload is. You have to get GCWR or max tow cap from the owners manual or the VIN breakdown. Of course the payload number doesn’t account for anything the dealer added after production.

I followed that link and got an error message that said invalid vin. I entered the VIN exactly as in the door sticker photo.

You're welcome. I honestly don't know other than stickers and scale weights. I haven't actually seen the output of that tool since I drive a Chevy, but I knew about (and am slightly jealous of) it and figured I'd let you know.

Like most FCA systems, the build sheet gopher is flakey! Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. Do make sure you didn't confuse a "0" zero with the letter "O". There are no letter "O" in VINs.

Your salesperson is probably only guilty of smoke and mirrors because he or she has no clue what you're asking! The days when they actually knew the products they sold are gone! When you find one who does, leave immediately and buy a lottery ticket!

    Good luck with your purchase!

Just compare the payload to the door sticker. The door sticker is required and will be there. Unless it's changed recently, RAM does not have the combined rating on the sticker. FYI - the cargo capacity is on the sticker on the jamb, not the one on the door edge.
