Leave it on so your battery will charge

As @huntindog says, leave the master switch on (so the red key can not be removed). This will keep your battery charged. Ther are some loads (depending on how your trailer is wired - and they do vary) like the LP detector and radio (for the clock) that are wired directly to the battery* and can/will drain (and potentially damage) your battery if not recharged. Also, depending on you model of trailer (you did not say what trailer you have. You should add a signature - use the search feature to find instructions) if you have hydraulic landing gear, jacks or slides the pump can draw more current then the converter (charger/12v supply) can provide. The battery needs to be connected in this case to provide the extra current.

    * Note: For storage, many people either remove one of the battery cables or add/rewire the battery master switch (often called a disconnect switch) to completely disconnect the battery so it is not drained in storage. Lots of discussions on the forums. Again, use the search function to find them.
