After looking at all these photos of rats-nest wiring, I think I'll just keep my head stuck in the sand. I'll keep assuming my rig is different and Grand Design has improved their wiring in the newer model years. Ignorance is bliss...

Seems like a bad plan to me. Might as well include it as part of your upgrade project with all the mods you are doing. My 2017 Momentum was wired no different than Cate&Rob's Reflection. I found wire wrapped around my sewer pipes, some 12v wires missing insulation, a wire bundle of about 16 14awg wires held together with tape/a single wire nut and a single 14awg wire coming off of that mess connecting it all to a bus bar. Consider this preventive maintenance and check it off your list.

The thing that makes these repairs/improvements really frustrating is when you have to accomplish them on the road, in the cold, without your best tools, etc. This last one went fairly well . . . after all, we are on a long term lot in Florida . . . but, I still didn’t have the specialized electrical connectors that are in my shop at home.
All the trailers will need some version of the repairs discussed here and on similar threads. Preventative maintenance, accomplished at the best time and location, is a way better plan (in my opinion).
My water system rebuild probably took a month . . . poking away at it, trying different things, modifying the plan as I went. But, it was summer, the Reflection was in the driveway next to my full shop, we were not living in it . . . and I like doing things like this .
My purpose in telling these stories it to show folks that they can accomplish things that they would never think they could do. With a little guidance and one-step-at-a-time.

This is great stuff, but I think you are posting this to torture us up North. Green grass? Trees with leaves? WTF? I have another 4 months before I see anything like that!!

If anything, my money would be wiring on later models is even more jumbled, haphazardly run then on the earlier models. In the early days, the demand wasn’t nearly as great as they are now. Around 2017, production really ramped up and GD really started pumping out the units. Around that time frame the complaints started increasing about the lack of QC in their products. It seems (to me at least) that the RV’s GD is selling today aren’t any better constructed then the competition.

Wow. Frankly, if I had read this forum and seen many of these posts, I would have never bought the Solitude we just bought. There is just no excuse for that type of shoddy workmanship. The folks at Grand Design who claim they have great build quality are just blowing smoke. Shame on them. They have to know this stuff is going on. I've only seen the wiring mess behind the panel in the basement storage area and that was enough to make me shudder.
I guess I will be spending a lot of my time this spring under this beast inspecting and fixing this stuff.2019 Solitude 384GKR

We have had a number of discussions on Grand Design's approach to quality. Their multi-million dollar investments is post production inspection (of things visible at that point) fosters an attitude that hidden things can be rushed and don't matter. Their "inspect in quality" approach is more than 3 decades out of date. I did have the opportunity to talk with some of the GDRV executives about this at a Rally. I asked if they knew of Edwards Deming. No one admitted to ever having heard of him. The RV industry is so isolated from the rest of the manufacturing world . . . this might be true.
