Hitch Camper to tow vehicle during hi winds?

    http://rvlife.com/high-winds-flip-rvs/

I felt the previous article was informative...

My 2150rb approx 6000# and truck 6000# connected. Total 12,000#.
That seems like a lot of wind needed to flip.
I do not plan to be in camper
It is located off to the side of my house.
Will fill tanks to add 120 gallons of water to add ballast

Question- leveling jacks down or up. Seems if they are done, wind could push camper left right and stress jacks to point of fail? But article implies put down jacks?

I also see, people say put front of Camper into the wind!?! Last three hurricanes that when over our county, blew winds in every direction as the storm approach and passed on by. So no way to put nose into wind. Just saying. Theory maybe good, but not reality. JMHO

My location. Polk County center of State.
Prayers to all, my the Hurricane lottery treat you well!

    Just my two cents worth....

Good luck to you and yours, my brother and nephew live in Lakeland. Batten down the hatches. I think I'd leave the trailer unhooked, no since in a big wind blast tearing them both up!

A handful of years ago and on a different forum I saw a member's photo of his TT flipped onto the side. Was likely caused by a microburst, but nothing difinitive. His was a total surprise.

I would think with a hurricane or other known threat, I'd be more worried about flying debris damaging my RV. If I was seriously worried about it flipping, I'd look for ways to anchor the wheels/tires to assist with stability.

    Wishing you the best.

We were good for debris two years ago with Irma, direct hit. Ouch.
Ground is so wet I don’t think a mobile home anchor would even hold in the mud. Even though I have the camper on a nice rock base, no solid ground under rock from feet of rain past few weeks.

The mobile home anchors go down about 4 feet and are about 10" wide. They manage to do a pretty good job keeping a mobile home in place. The last bad hurricane came past my house in Lakeland with winds as a CAT2 I lost the centre ridge shingles and my roof vents 2 house destroyed in my neighborhood lots of car ports torn off. I must have a guardian angle look at the track of Irma, the green dot was our house. It was a winter home for us we sold it in June.

Irma hit the keys as a CAT 4 nothing saved the trailers, vehicles or homes, they were mostly leveled or gone.Click image for larger version.

Yep, I get a good chuckle when someone says point it into the wind. Apparently they have never experienced a hurricane.

Last hurricane that came through I believe had about 120 to 130 mph winds. I lowered the front of my TT all the way down and extended stabilizers. No damage or problems.
