Rob, how does one tell if a 2017 Eco 150 4x4 has the Heavy Payload and Max Tow packages already on it? I am looking at a GD 303 but still undecided if I need a F250 diesel or not. Thanks for the help. George

If you have the original window sticker on the truck it should be listed on there. If not a Ford dealer should be able to run the VIN and tell you.

I believe that in order to get the Heavy Payload one also has to get the Max Tow. Based on that, just look at the door sticker for max payload, any amount over 2166 (which is my 2012 version - so anything younger will have even more) will be good to go.

Cab and bed configuration are also key.
Super Crew needs the 6.5" bed.
Super Cab needs the 8' bed.
Reg cab needs the 8' bed.

After that it's window sticker time.

No, it *may* have steel 17” wheels, but more likely have 18” aluminum rims, of a unique to hdpp package. As far as the question how you can tell if it is an hdpp, the wheels are the first giveaway for me. You can also count the rear leaf springs, there will be a total of four leafs. 3 plus a helper.

I just found this video of vintage tv’s from 1996. Interesting in that the 3.5 EB completely blows away all three heavy duty trucks in the power and towing department. https://youtu.be/Qnu6cITBQ7w
