Saturday Aug 6th Partly cloudy but very windy High today was 57..
My fishing charter for tomorrow is canceled due to high seas. I was booked on a 35" six person, but the Captain said we would be beat to death - he had to cut short today's run as folks just could not take it. So tomorrow I will try a bit of shore fishing for silvers before the rain hits.
In Homer I found a local out of the way fuel place 25 cents cheaper that the Chevron ($6) on the main road $5.74 for fuel. Its on East End road. It is set up for commercial trucks in back but has two RV friendly pumps out front. But the locals are not friendly if you hold them up. It east of town. Also found a good local Cafe. Its called the Boat Yard Cafe and is on Kachemak Drive out a ways east in the boat yard area. Excellent Halibut fish and chips ($28) and DW had the Halibut chowder ($10) which she really liked. Prices here for food are off the chart especially on the spit (add $20), so look in town and be prepared. We only eat out a meal maybe every 2 to 3 days. The small Safeway here is well stocked and friendly staff. There are also at least two other grocery stores in town. The Heritage camp ground staff is also very friendly.

Sunday Aug 7th Clear in the morning but the charter was canceled due to rough seas. High was 57F Folks that did get to go out on the larger boats said it was a very rough experience and that many did not catch anything.. Rain started about 3 PM
However I did catch a Halibut - all 6" to 8" I threw it back for my next trip

Monday Aug 8th Rain all day, but was travel day. Left Homer about 8:30 and stopped in Huston just north of Wasilla. We are roughly 3 hours from Denali NP where we have reservations beginning Tuesday night. Weather is supposed to improve and be sunny Wednesday.
Campground is Riverside. OK for a nights stop , pricey, but nothing to write home about. All sites are back in, but deep enough I didn't need to unhitch. Fuel prices in Wasilla were right around $5.25 give or take a bit. I stopped as I was getting tired from the rain and dealing with Anchorage traffic.2018 Reflection 150 Series 220RK 5th wheel with 6K axle upgrade. Just curious, because we prefer boondocking more than rv parks...
Are there many boondocking opportunities? Maybe you prefer rv parks?
Still waiting for our new F350 to ship to the dealer before even considering such a long trip.
Thanks.Dan and Rita

Found this online calculator. https://www.vcalc.com/wiki/pro/US+Do...lars+per+Liter
But I have to say, $1.699 CAD per liter is really cheap these days. It must be in Alberta where gas is cheaper. Right in Quebec it's 1.96 for regular gas.Steph & Lise
