    Grand Design 5th Wheel

    Hi all,

looking for thoughts on your grand design 5th wheel.. we are looking at the Reflection 28BH and just wondering if others have recently purchased, how do you like the unit, do you find it roomy (outside kitchen looks small) is it useful, how do the slide feel, any complaints, how are the seal leaks or issues with moisture.

just looking at over all rating the good the bad and the ugly.. prior to making a final decision.

    thanks

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest you start reading the many posts here. Enter the model into the search function .
You need to find one and spend a few hours in it poking around to get a feel if it fits what you are looking for

Looking, I purchased my 28bh last June. We love it. Got it from CanAm RV in London. We haven't had any issues. With a wife and 2 little kids, there is ample room for when it's raining. As for the outdoor kitchen, I would've loved a larger one, but it does the trick. The only issue we have is that my 7 yo daughter fell off the top bunk while sleeping. Didn't get injured, but now I have to build some sort of bunk rail to keep her in it. We had a pool noodle, but that didn't work. Might use iron pipe and screw it to the wood.

As for towing, I came from a Jayco TT and this is hands down so much easier. Backing in is a little different, but I take my time.

Any more questions, let me know. Good luck

    Welcome to the forum!

I would say find a floor plan you love and go from there. There is no magical GD formula for quality. I would say their products are comparable to competitors in their price ranges.

To be clear, I have no regrets, but GD is NOT a silver bullet.

@nisbitch when we had a bunk model I went and purchased a bunk rail from Crate Furniture and it worked great for 11 years. Very sturdy and just had to make a minor modification as the mounting was a bit different than their bunk beds.

@lookingtogorving depending on where in Ontario you are located or how far you want to drive we found the best deals for RVs was from Layzee Acres. For me it was worth the couple of hours drive for the money we saved.

Thanks Rob. I agree, Layzee Acres was the cheapest. They were a 4 hour drive from me, but only $4-500 cheaper than London. It wasn’t worth the time for me.
Do you happen to have a picture of your bunk rail by chance?

Wow. If I would have known that then I would not have gone to Layzee Acres either. When we bought our 297RSTS we didn't know that CanAm carried Grand Design. I will have to remember that next time. I have attached a link to the Crate Designs Furniture that shows a bed with the bunk rail. I don't have a picture of mine in the trailer though.

We bought a 31MB. While our kids are grown up, our grandkids are 2-4-8 years old. They love the bunk room, and go with us several times a year. When not with us its an extra room we have for other things. We looked at the 28BH and the 311. This one won hands down - For us.
