    Avoid distractions

Well, I have read a lot of posts in this section and thank everyone for sharing as I assume none of us want to share mistakes (well me anyway). I read the posts and do my best to lean from others mistakes. Today, I made a big one of my own.

I was bringing my 5th wheel back to the lot where I park it. I have made this turn numerous times. I received a phone call about 2 minutes prior to arriving and your guessed it, got distracted and took the turn for granted and caught a 4x4 post. Luckily for me, I missed slide and only took out some skirting and one bracket.

Please everyone, don’t let little distractions ruin your day. Your can call them back.

Oh my, thanks for sharing your lesson. It happens to the best of us. I find the more routine the activity the more we get conformable and then....

Cell phones, a cute girl on the sidewalk and event the radio can and will distract you at the wrong time. The same route many times can also create problems.

Please; everyone be careful out there. KEN

I'm very confident that at some point I'll do some serious damage to our rig. Just a matter of time. Sorry to hear about your damage but as you say, I'm glad it didn't crunch the slide room.

Ouch! Thanks for sharing and hopefully you get it fixed soon. I too had the exact same thing happen (phone call) while pulling into my dealer last year. Thankfully I realized it before dragging the trailer up a foot tall curb! Stay safe out there everyone.

Be prepared, that j wrap (the metal skirt) is VERY expensive (don’t ask how I know)!

That's a bummer. Easy to get to relaxed in familiar areas and distracted anywhere and everywhere. Thanks for the reminder. That will make you a better driver moving forward and the damage was minimal and no injuries when compared to bigger lessons. Thanks for sharing it.
