We always tie down our awning and make sure that the awning is angled down toward the prevailing winds. Even though we do that we also put our awning in every time the winds pick up significantly. Our motto is “better safe than sorry”.

We were told by our Dealer and GD that it is not advised to tie down power awnings, only manual it can ruin the awning if it should somehow start to retract or if someone forgets and retracts it, we asked as so many people were talking about it we wanted to know their opinion as well
