Towing reflection 150 with a half ton

Who is towing there reflection 150 with a half ton? How safe does it feel and how much are you overweight on payload ? Curious what model truck and trailer you have.

We don't have a half ton truck, and do have a slightly bigger(heavier) rig, but we were warned that, if you have an accident - even if they run into you - and you are overweight, chances are your insurance won't cover you and the cops aren't going to like you very much.

We bought a 2021 and planned on using our 1/2 ton 2012 Ram. Already had airbags and thought it would be good. Needless to say, went out and got a Ram 2500 Cummins. The Hemi in the 2012 did fine on the straight and level, but out west, there isnt much of that. Night and day difference and I wouldnt ever try and tow a 5th wheel without a diesel again. My 2 cents worth

I have a smaller 150 5th wheel and would not be comfortable pulling it with a half ton. The power in the current half tons is more than enough at least in a straight line and in good weather but the suspension is too soft. In the mountains, certain weather conditions and emergency situations a half ton is not enough truck.

I see a lot of people towing 8000-9000lb bumper pulls with half tons, probably no safe. I would think a 9000lb 5th wheel would tow better.

The 150 series is lighter for a 5th wheel but I experienced sway with this technology and my specific model. Smaller truck would feel that sway more than my F250.

2012 GMC half-ton (E tires, timbrens), 2020 260RD. Ok for short trips, but I wouldn't want to tow very far. Have since pur chased a 2018 RAM 2500 CTD for future longer trips in retirement.

We are pulling a 2019 Reflection 295RL on a Pullrite Superlite hitch with a 2017 GMC Sierra, 6.2L max tow package with air bags and LT tires. We are likely slightly over payload on most trips.

As for performance, my setup tows nicely. We took a 3000-mile trip through Glacier and then Banff in 2019. I never lacked power to get over the mountains and never felt pushed coming back down. I would guess we have 5000 total miles with this setup and are very happy.

And, yes it does tow better than my previous bumper pull.
