    WDH cart

I am having surgery July 2nd no lifting anything or exercise for 2 weeks just limited walking. After the two weeks I can lift no more than 15lbs for 3 weeks. My dilemma is putting the WDH in the receiver of the truck so we can leave around the 26 to 30 of July. So today I took a ramp that we used at the marina for our dog and made a cart for the hitch. The part with the wheels came from Harbor Freight. While not the pretties thing to look at it works perfect and is easy to roll around.

Plus 1. I have several hitches for different trailers and swapping them out all the time can be a PITA.

I've built several similar setups for my garden tractor 3 point hitch implements (back blade, tiller, disc, etc.) and the plow and snow blower up front.
It's a total game changer for sure.
I'm embarrassed to say that I never even thought of making one for my big WDH.
    GENIUS!
    Thank you for sharing.

Fine job, and perhaps you like tinkering. However, it seems to me that maybe all you need is a buddy or neighbor? Give him a call, offer him a beer, and have him put it in for you.

If the hitch was “on the ground” the OP probably used @Timmer1 solution above, once. After that, he’s fully independent and doesn’t need help every time he wants to go out. I agree, friends helping friends is a good thing, but self-reliance feeds the soul. Great invention!

Why would you not insert prior to surgery... and it is done? People all over earth who regularly pull trailers will leave the draw bar in place in between hooking up. It's a non issue. Most of the summer I keep a giant 30K LB Pintle/Ball on my truck so that I can grab onto an equipment trailer, a dump trailer or whatever else is near me. I can't think of anyone I know who uses trucks and trailers who would remove and replace ball mounts after/before each use. Now, in the winter I do remove mine because I pretty much stop hauling trailers for 4 months, and I had an F-350 that the ball mount rusted into the frame hitch and I could not get it out... ever.... with an excavator jerking it.... tied to gaurd rails...... I sold the truck with it in and told the guy that could cut it off the frame if he needed something else. Now I remove each winter, clean a bit, soak the inside of the female with VHT epoxy paint and install again in the spring with a light coat of grease.

For safety sake, prior to your medical procedure install and pin that bad boy in there, and then there is zero chance of you stressing your surgery area during manipulation. Better safe than sorry.
