DEXTER E-Z Flex Tandem Equalizer Suspension Kit - Opinions

    Hi All:

I have an Imagine XLS 21BHE and I am looking to change out the Dexter factory equalizer and shackles and upgrade to a DEXTER E-Z Flex Tandem Equalizer Suspension Kit. The factory equalizer comes with nylon bushings and dry bolts.

For those of you using this product have you been happy with it's performance.

    Hi Marco,

The kit in your attached picture has all the “right stuff”. Wet bolts, bronze bushings, thicker shackle plates and cushioned equalizers. I have the LCI cushioned equalizers, but all the rest of the pictured kit as aftermarket parts from MORryde.

I've been thinking about doing the same upgrade for our Imagine 2800BH during the off-season. Dexter says the K71-653-00 kit should work as a replacement for the solid 13-122 equalizer that came on our trailer. I'm pretty sure that the K71-653-00 kit includes bronze bushings, wet bolts, and heavier shackle links for the leaf springs.

I had the E-Z Flex system and heavy wet bolts on my old trailer. They worked great. I also had shocks that helped. Without shocks I would look seriously at the MorRyde CRE3000 system.

    Hi Kevin:

Good to know - thanks for the info. I asked Dexter about using their "shocks" and their EZ Flex equalizer suspension and they said the shock kit will reduce trailer bounce and somewhat reduce sway, but will not improve the ride as much as the E-Z Flex kit listed above.

What I would really like to know is if the equalizer with the "rubber" insert is worth the extra money or if I just change out my nylon bushings to brass and my dry bolts to wet.

It in interesting that there does not appear to be any compression/flex in the equalizer in the video .

    Kevin,

What type of shock absorber did you have on that trailer? It looks like Dexter offers a shock kit K71-175-01. I'm curious if that's what you had, or if it was something else.

Yes, it was a factory installed Dexter shock kit. I was on my second set of shocks when I sold the trailer.

I have watched other videos and the same - that rubber doesn't seem to be compressing. But based on it's scissor design I am sure it's doing its job. Be funny if it was compressing alll the way and metal was hitting - lol. Maybe not so funny. Well I'll see what others have to say. For the cost I think it's a good value added upgrade.
