Another option is the Glow step revolution steps. They do go down to the ground but that does make them very solid. The Glow step revolution steps fold up just like the black steps. We have had them for a year and a half now and have never had a problem with them.Marcy is short and didn't want to deal with the one piece steps either. in fact we didn't like them for all the same reason's as everyone else. don't know what would happen if we tried to move the trailer with the steps down, but we have never done that. I would imagine that even with the black steps as low as they are they would hit something and do a lot of damage too. Our dogs are much happier with these steps also.

^^^ x2 on the Glow Steps. They plug right into the existing holes and I installed them by myself, alone, without issue in about 60 min. I have re-leveled the camper several times with them down and because of their design (accordion) they flex with the movement and are forgiving (YMMV with the amount of movement and direction). Step angle much more manageable for my dog now.

    Here is the result.

Solid Step gone. Door works better, screen doesn't hang up on the sill. So much easier to use and no more dirt getting dumped in the entry.

I'm happy to sell the Solid Step to anyone that would like them near Virginia. I realize it's completely a personal preference, there is nothing wrong with them if you like them.

So when you installed the Glow Steps, did you have to cut skirting away? How did you measure/mark the cut lines? What tool did you use for the cuts?

Same here, I had the dealership to cut the skirting and they bolted on my steps for me.

When we were camper shopping last year we intentionally would not consider the solid steps. Yes it's personal preference. A buddy has them and really likes them. My feelings were that 1. dirt and rain get in camper. 2. Might be harder to extend (never proved this one way or the other) 3. The ability to get in without lowering steps, say at a gas station or rest stop where there might not be space and I don't want to block the sidewalk. The glow steps do look cool and as we get older and want more steps, I might consider them.

Now on this last trip I jumped in once without lowering steps - no problem but "aint getting any younger" and it wasn't real graceful. Then Sunday, after going up and down the ladder washing the roof and sides, I just didn't want to go there and lowered the steps for two minutes instead of jumping in. Took longer but with more grace.

Our dogs do better on the solid steps, and I like that the vacuum is right where dirt could fall off of the steps when stowed away. It is a little annoying when you constantly have to adjust the lower rails from site to site, but overall we are very happy with them. IMO much more sturdy than the rail mounted steps. Glad we have them.
