    Ford Xplan dilemma

Hi all - I'm fortunate enough to have a retired Ford employee friend connect me with the Xplan. I have the pin #, etc. and ready to order the truck. When I'm at the dealer, he tells me I'll qualify for the Ford incentives that are available at the time of delivery, not the time when I order it. Then he says it could take anywhere between 6-12 weeks to get the truck delivered after ordering. It seems odd to me that I should order a truck, with a deposit, not knowing how much it'll end up costing me when I come to pick it up.

My Ford friend says this is nonsense and I should have all the current incentives locked in, knowing the full/total price at the time of the order. She's suggesting I should walk away.

Anyone have any similar experiences to share? Thanks!

Current incentives should be locked in when you place your order. If better incentives are available when your truck gets in, then you get those instead.

If the dealer keeps this up, walk away.

    1. You do NOT have to put down a deposit to order your truck. I did not, and many others do not. Ford does not require it. Is the dealer insecure or something ??
    2. The sales department should complete the sales order before your truck gets ordered so EVERYONE knows exactly what$ what. This dealer sounds weak. Do you have any other Ford dealer choices?? You may have to go out of R.I. to get help.
Order to deliver time will be 8 weeks. You can track its complete process through a Ford site.

We are looking at ordering a F350 this fall, is the Xplan making a reasonable difference in price?

Yes it keeps the price of the truck at invoice and caps deal administrator fees at $100.
So in Texas on a $70k truck it basically took care of the $4k in taxes (gulp).

With x-plan every dealership price will be the same. Find another dealer. Shop around by phone to save time and let them know you’re an x-plan buyer.

I ordered via x-plan last July as soon as 2019 orders opened up with my local dealership. No deposit needed.

Dealer locked in the current incentives and PCO.

The sales manager told me that if incentives and rebates were better at the time of delivery I could use them but if my PCO was expired I would not be able to apply it if I wanted to use the rebates at time of delivery.

It took 8-9 weeks from order to delivery for my order. It would have been sooner but the dealership didn’t have an allocation at the time of the order.

Dealer put it all in writing for me.

If you go to a large dealership it’s likely that things should happen quicker. Plus larger dealerships have fleet managers more familiar with special ordering.

Mostly right. For my F350 it was within $25 of invoice based on the x-plan formula. .

X-plan formula is invoice minus 0.4% plus $275 fee. For my F350.
    MSRP was $74,015
    X-plan discount was $4,386
    Ford cash rebate was $500
    PCO was $3,000

The only fee I paid was $100 dealer fee.

That $275 is part of the X-plan pricing formula. It’s never on customer contract. It’s a program fee that the dealer gets from Ford for administrating X-plan paperwork.

My X-plan price was $18 over invoice.
    $74,015 MSRP
    $69,611 invoice

    $69,629 X-plan price.
    +$100 dealer fee
-($3,500) rebates (actually $3,750 final rebate due to additional $250 USAA rebate)
    +sales tax
    +tag and title fee

Thanks for the info everyone! I'll be moving on to another dealer hopefully this weekend.

On a slight tangent. . . . I'm trying to find out about the PCO. I'm registered on Ford.com. Is that something that just gets emailed to me at some random time? Or do I need to know someone? How does that work?

    Thanks!
