    268BH Second A/C

Does the bedroom ac tie into the existing ductwork or is it a standalone unit. Also, can it be installed with a wall mounted thermostat. Will be picking up my 268BH next week and already anticipating the Texas summer heat.

They can tie into the ductwork. There is a thermostat wire behind the light switch in the wall.

I was just inquiring about this myself with GD. The customer service at GD said mine was not pre-wired for a second AC but they didn't sound convinced. There's a big price difference in the install between pre-wired or not according to my dealer ($1400 up to $2400)

Find out anything more please let me know.

Do you feel $1400 is a fair going rate for AC equipment and install?

That's what we get for them, installed. (If we can get the actual a/c unit....they're in and out of stock at all the distributors)

I have a local dealer who has a 13.5k matching AC unit to my 15k but it's manual dial only, although they said it would still be hooked up to the race track ducts. This sounds less than standard procedure here with no thermostat. I've been warned against this setup as well; somehow the AC units are not the same and it's not as efficient. Do you mind allowing me to pick your mind one more time on this? Anything to clarify if there's a significant difference between manual and thermostat oriented AC units?
