    28BH 16" Wheels *Tow vehicle is 17 F250 2.5" level on 35's and 18" wheels

New to the RV world. Picking up a 2018 28BH and would really like to swap out the stock 15" Westlake tires for some quality 16" tires.

-Are you able to straight swap out the 15" tires for 16" and use the same wheel? Im not sure what kind of spacing between the two tires are or the clearance from the overhead fender so to speak. What tire specs can I run if I straight swap them?

-I am also concerned with how my truck's stance will be when loaded and towing (i.e. nose high on truck). I'm hoping with 16" tires, the fiver will sit a little more level

    Advice?

I think you are asking if you can use 16" tires on the stock 15" wheels? No.

No, you need 16" rims to mount 16" tires. You are talking rim size, not tire size.

It really won't make much of a difference anyway.

If you are running a leveling kit on the truck, and not an all around lift kit, your truck will sit nose high no matter what you do. The whole point of a leveling kit is to take the rake out of the truck. Now, you are adding weight to the back, and it will squat. The front will not.

I’m curious how this will work out & I’ll find out tomorrow when I pick up our new 290BH. My 2015 F-350 is leveled with LT295/65-20’s which are effectively 35”, our 2018 290BH also has 15” tires. Fortunately I have air bags so I’ll be able to deal with any squat, my worry is that it will then make the trailer ride nose high.

I believe the 2018 28BH already comes with 16" wheels and tires. @huntr70 , would this be correct?

Good chance it will be nose high. I just finished installing a lift kit in my 290BH last night cause it was nose high with my stock height power wagon on 35s. It was nose high with my 05 3500 on stock 17" tires by 2" and almost dragging spare tire with new truck

That's what I was afraid of, what did you use for a lift kit?

Solid steel blocks bolted right to the springs and longer heavier u bolts. Worked with a local spring shop for about a month to come up with best and safest plan. Then installed them myself as I have been a licensed mechanic for years

I tow my 2018 28bh with a 2019 F350. This winter I dropped the rear height ny swapping it to F250 2” spacers. It now tows close to level with my Andersen in the lowest hole. I have moved it up to the middle hole for a bit of extra clearance, which now makes it about an inch high. I have 15” wheels, and this summer I plan to replace the tires and am thinkinking of going to 16” wheels to get it back to about level. My understanding is Grand Design went to 16” wheels in 2019.
