Is it possible to ignore threads?
I've tried to search and only come up with ignoring specific posters or SWMBO ..
Is there a function where an entire thread can bi ignored? Some seem to take on a life of their own and I've learned that in doing my "hit and run" speed reading of forums that often I have to open a forum because a single thread has been replied to and no others. Part of this has developed thru time having to keep up with black letter law changes and case law decisions that I will read something and figure out my key words and forum and then know where to search if I need it again, so basically I'm trying to keep my noggin as uncluttered as I can.

I don't think you can block threads like you can block individual members. @Janet H would be the one to answer that with any certainty.

I've found that setting my forum bookmark page to the index and then immediately click "new posts." It's not exactly ignoring threads, but allows me the fastest possible preview of new items. I right-click/open in new tab anything I'm interesting in skimming further or reading, and click "mark forums read." Then I skim/read each tab I'd opened, knowing that I've got everything marked as read already - set up for the next time.
I'm on Chrome on my desktop and tablet - but it more or less works the same way on the phone, although I generally use "Tapatalk" if I'm seriously skimming forums on the phone.

I have a tab open to the main forum page when my browser starts up, then just click on the "new posts". Open those that appear to be of interest. Ignore the others. Those that haven't been added to since the last time I opened my browser disappear into the "threads below have not been updated..." listing further down. Yes, those I have no interest in, if still active, still appear toward the top of the list, but easy to just skip over...or if I am bored, I might finally click in to to see what is being discussed.

I totally understand the "see new posts" abilities of this and other forums. The problem is that I (selfishly, I guess) don't want to see the new postings of certain threads. I go down thru the forums and I see under general that the "How do I wax my dog?" thread was the last one commented on, but I have no desire to wax my dog, but I am intensely interested in the "how to give your cat an enema" thread. I then have to click on the general thread to find that the wax the dog thread has been commented on several times with a discussion of what wax works best on the dog, but evidently the best method and prep have already been found, or not a lot of people have experience at giving the cat an enema, and then click the "show as read" button, whereas is the ignore a thread option wouldn't have even brought it up for me to have repeatedly marked as read.
