Power Inlet Hole thru Wall Bugging Me

The hole thru the wall on my 317RST for shore power inlet cut the 1x2 wood that helps support the aluminum floor joists for the upper level floor.
It's been bugging me since I barely saw it several months ago, it's way back next to the furnace.

Managed to squeeze back to it & cleaned up the cut so the 1x2 can lay against the outside wall.
Screwed plywood onto the cut 1x2 and the 2x2 next to it & added a 2x2 several inches away.

Since the furnace flexible propane line lies next to the 1x2 I couldn't install a full length patch on the 1x2 wood.

Nice job (the one you did, not the one GD did).

On my rig there is blocking in the side wall where the power receptacle is (was) suppose to be drilled through. They missed that by a good 2 inches. So the receptacle was just screwed into the fiberglass (not what the engineers intended I'm sure). It doesn't matter now. I cut a huge hole through some of the blocking and the not blocked part of the wall when I installed my power reel.

I hate to revive an old dead thread, but I noticed that you said that you installed a power cord reel. Do you mind sharing the details? I'm looking to do this as well. I've got a 311BHS.

Thank you. I should have been more clear. I am considering disconnecting the female power cord connector from the backside (next to the water heater) in the basement, connecting that into a powered cord reel, cutting the previous hole in the sidewall larger to accomodate a door with rollers and a switch for the power cord release and recoil.

My search only turned up similar results as you posted, that is to say manual spool power cord reels.

I'm hopeful someone else has done what I'm thinking above.

    Thanks!

Clear now, it sounds like @traveldawg did what you're saying.

    Gene,
My basement layout is a bit different than yours. In your situation it may be a bit tight for a powered reel but here is a link to what I did...

Awesome. Instead of a pantry, I've got a cabinet in this space that butts up against the basement and the current power cord inlet location. My thought was to lose the lower part of the cabinet, cut the back out, and do all of the work from inside the trailer instead of squeezing myself into the corner of the basement. Thanks for the post link!

One more note. I was going to use one of those roller type doors for the outside. They were hard to find, not as large as I wanted, and expensive. So I just used a plain door and finished the trim work around the opening to the cord wouldn't snag on anything.

I'm not sure if posted photos of it, so here are a few....

Well done! GD should "steal" this from you and incorporate it as a feature. A perfect example of what I mean when I say that RV companies don't incorporate solutions into their RVs. Your mod is a solution to a common problem--no one enjoys the 50A cord wrestlin' match during setup or breakdown.
