    Exclamation Water Leak/faulty B&B 571 Valve

I noticed a water leak in the living room floor below the wall where the shower and toilet are located. After investigation I determined that the Vacuum valve (B&B 571) for the black water tank was leaking. I intend to replace the valve with a brass version for durability. My question is how is the best way to access this valve. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I haven't had to deal with this yet, so I've done some searching for you.

This post and the thread it's in talk about a panel behind the shower faucets.

Here's some discussion with a photo and description by one owner; no idea if this would apply to your situation.

In this thread there's discussion about alternatives to replacing the vacuum breaker behind the shower wall... bypassing it and using other breaker devices instead. (Note that SOME kind of backflow preventer should be installed, it wouldn't be a good idea to just eliminate a breaker entirely.)

Here's some discussion about the vacuum breaker inside the toilet, just in case that's what you're facing.

Here's an important note about not leaving a supply hose attached to black flush, which can cause leakage at the breaker. Also pictures higher in the thread that might be useful.

Hope this helps you get started. Couple more tips:

    - create a "Signature" for your posts that will automatically add information - most importantly what model of GD trailer you have - to the bottom of every post. Create your signature by clicking on Settings near the top right corner, and then selecting the Signature item from the menu at left on the resulting page.

    - use Google to search this forum for information (it often finds things that the site's own search facility does not find). Enter a query like this:

    replace vacuum break shower site:mygrandrv.com

where that last part tells Google to search only on this site.

    Good luck.

Boyscout, thanks so much for this information. I did locate the valve behind the grab bar below the faucets and was able to remove my basement panel and push enough slack on the two attached hoses to get the vacuum breaker to the cutout where I could replace it.
