I did it with your buddy Brandon. He's putting the details together tomorrow on a 2020.5 (White exterior with grey interior) and setting my factory Puck system up with the junk to attach part A to part B. He showed pictures of a clean black frame, no salt or rust. A bit higher price, but way cleaner chassis. Done deal. Sign me up.

Should I ask him to set it up with 2 x 6 volts, 1 12v or dual 12v?

I really wish it provided the possibility of a washer/dryer. That's one caveat to this 311... Why not find a way to get that option in there?

It has the Goodyear tires, so that's nice. My current trailer had 14 wheels and Castle Bomb tires, I got it home and removed them and bought 15" aluminum wheels and Kenda Karrier tires.

We are getting excited over the concept of having storage space and cooking space.

How do you like the radio speakers on the outside? Do the speakers sound good or do they sound crappy?

    Is the 40" a Roku/smart TV?

Is there anything I need to have the dealer add?

Thanks for the update Larry. It makes sense to me now and the world is right. You actually got the Heavy Duty Snow Plow Prep Group and not the Snow Chief Group. That's how you were able to get 20" wheels.

What's the difference in what I got and the snow chief?

I believe mine has an increased front axle loading (different springs, or would it be a larger actual axle housing and ring/opinion/shaft?), I guess the single (not dual) 220 alternator and the silly skid plate.

Jason, Is the 6.4L with the old transmission as bad as folks claim in the HDRam forum? The 6.4L and 8 speed is very good pulling my equipment trailer with equipment on it. Folks on that forum say that the 8 speed is a game changer for the 6.4L and make it into the towing platform that the previous generation owners thought that they were getting. I never rode/drove one prior to the 8 speed... hopefully when you do you get a WOW experience from the updated transmission. This is my second German sourced ZF 8 speed, I had the 2017 Ram 1500 5.7L 8 speed prior to this 2019. That was a flawless beast that towed way better than it should.

I also discovered the limitation to towing with the Ram 1500.... It is the control arms. I pulled just over 14K lbs about 10 miles with it and smashed the bushings out of the control arms, had to replace all 4. It seems that the 3.92 gears, 5.7L and 8 speed will provide the thrust to the point that the small bushings split and the rubber squishes out.... If you look under the Ram 2500 the control arm bushings are about 3X the diameter... the control arm tube is also massive compared to the 1500.

I know the 3500 guys claim that the coil suspension and 4 link on the 2500 is weak, but seeing how giant it is compared to that 1500... and how abusive I was to that 1500.... It is going to take a crazy amount of stupid to break the 2500. Give me a little time though. I'll get it done :-)

    Larry,

Where I live it's reasonably flat. I only travel within my home state. There are places that I go where there are some up and down small hills. It's very noticeable downshifting when climbing them. It's more of Hemi rumble you hear than anything else though. I was excited to hear that the 8 speed was going to be in the HDs. I liked it in my 13 Ram 1500. One thing I have seen on these forums is people talking about transmission temps. Usually it's the Ford guys. I'm not knocking Fords just to be clear but I've seen a few posts where folks were seeing their tranny temps running around 240F. Sounds like that might just be where the Fords run. Loaded or unloaded, my 3500 ALWAYS runs between 168F and 170F. Gives me a bit of relief knowing that even though it's shifting often going up and down the hills, my temps stay low.

2500 is the most popular HD size class here in my state. I personally chose to go 3500 because the license tabs cost me $136/yr. The same 2500 model would be well over $600. The savings alone just in license was worth the jump to the 3500. I've got all kinds of extra payload now as well if I wanted to go bigger or haul more. It just made sense for me. If I upgrade to a new HD I will definitely get another 3500. I also will get another gas engine. I would like to go 4.10s next time but I think the only way to get that is by going DRW and I don't want that. I've got some time to think about what I want to do. For now, I am satisfied with the current setup. I would like to see how the 8-speed does though.

You can get that 4.10 hear set, but it's rare as hens teeth. I'm thinking that too get the truck with that gear and appointed how you specifically would like to have it, you'll need to special order. But then... With the 8 speed.... Do you need it? The first gear ratio on this 8 speed makes up for that gear set when pulling out, and yet let's you have tighter spaced shifts and a slightly higher overdrive. I'm really happy so far with my 3.73/8 speed transmission. I would loan it to you if you lived nearby.

Larry, from what I see Ram changed axle options for 2020. You can get 4.10s in a 2019 3500 SRW. In 2020 the only way to get 4.10s is to go DRW. I custom ordered my current truck and would do it again. I'd like to try 4.10s mated with an 8 speed to see what it's like. My current truck is only rated to tow 12,320 lbs. Going with 4.10s ups that by 3,000 lbs. I have relatives with bigger campers so having more tow capability would be nice. Then mate it with the 8 speed and you've got a pretty good setup. Curious what's coming for 2021!
