    Price increases....again!

Get ready, GD has just announced that prices are increases again.

As of July 5th, all costs go up. Retail orders have to go in before June 28th to price hold.

Increases are from 7% to 10% across the different lines.

Wow. I guess I'm not really that surprised as everything else has gone up substantially.

Can't blame them. You have to take advantage of the boom so you can survive the bust.

Or price themselves out of the market. Between the manufacturer increases and dealers unwilling to discount people will soon loose interest. It may be a matter of shooting themselves in the foot. The three car companies are still having trouble meeting demand for trucks so what are new RV trailer buyers going to use to tow? Airlines are getting busy again and although fares are increased now I suspect they will drop once flights, crews and schedules get worked through the system.

All manufacturer's are doing increases monthly.

I just point out the GD increases here.

Thor Motor Coach is telling us to pad all retail deals at least $5000 for expected chassis increases.

Keystone has gone up 5-6% every month.

Heartland just went up 7% and will not price hold for retail sold units.

    Etc, etc, etc.....

Wow! MSRP on our 303RLS was $61,400 when we bought in February. They now have it as a 2022 model and it’s over $69,000 on the GD website.

They're in a weird spot right now. And not necessarily an enviable one. The pandemic sent ripples through the global economy that have driven prices up. And on the flip side, demand shot through the roof last year. But in some sectors prices are crashing again (there will probably be repeated waves as the economy tries to find equilibrium) and as everyone gets back to work there will be a hard rebound on all those new RVs that got pumped out in 2020. The manufacturers could end up with high costs to produce RVs combined with staggeringly low demand as the used market sloshes in unwanted 1 or 2 year old RVs. Given that markets tend to be cyclical at the best of times they may be prepared to weather it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see yet another round of consolidation. And I sure as hell wouldn't invest any money in those companies, the risk is really high right now.

Prices could be 50% higher in a year, or 50% lower, and neither would surprise me.
