    Try this https://www.rvtripwizard.com/?gclid=...#5d94b25ceb785

They’ll let you have a free week to try it out. When our Imagine arrives we’ll probably get RV trip wizard again. It’s kind of a fun planner.

I'm cheap. No campgrounds for a stay of less than 12 hours, so we stop at Walmart and Cracker Barrel...

Most Walmarts ask RVs to use a far flung area of the parking lot, so I'll park parallel to a curb with the slides over the curb. Same thing in Cracker Barrel - I'll find a far corner and make sure we are gone by 0700.

I've never been questioned about this in over 15 years of dry camping.

For everyone recommending a famcamp, keep in mind, a lot of them are physically located on base and could be an issue if you travel with firearms. I've found it best to call ahead and find out their policy for firearms, in my experience, some are absolutely no firearms, whereas some will let you register them at the security check point.

The one time we stopped over in a Walmart on a longer trip, we talked to a security person, explained what we wanted to do, offered to stay way off to the side, etc. I think we’d gotten there soon after they closed.

He said we’d probably like it better up close to front of store, under a light. He encouraged us to do that; it’d be ok and so on.

We thought he was being friendly and helpful. We found out some time later that the area has a reputation as a high crime area.

Another option to consider is casino parking lots. We've stayed at the Onieda casino near Green Bay, and others out west. No shortage of them these days.

Crime will always be an issue regardless if you're in a lot, campground or rest area. Casinos the crime is more likely to be inside the building.

Sounds like Holiday Inn Express is going to the top of my list for "one nighters".

That's silly. You already have a hotel room on wheels...

Hotels can be even worse between the prostitutes and drug dealers.

I am not certain but I believe campgroundreviews dot com is part of the RV Trip Wizard family. I use it and it is free. You just have to create a user ID to see the full reviews. The downside is, there may be a park that doesn't have a review so it might not show up.

Count me as one who uses RV parks for overnight stays and as was mentioned, I will normally just hook up electric.

Agree with the advice to plan and book in advance. My one must is that I get a pull through site if I am arriving after dark. Although pricey; I tend to go with the KOAs for convenience. The fact that they are pricey also helps with making them relatively more available. The ones labeled as KOA JOURNEY camp grounds are typically among the most convenient.

Soooooo, with my 230RL, I have to put the slide out to sleep or will end up getting a hotel room.
What places are easiest to find off the interstate.....KOA's.....RV parks (if so, how do you find them while in transit?)

I know these are 101 questions but I have not had to do it yet.

    Thanks
We have used truck stops as a temp overnight stay... just park, pull the slide out and sleep. Most have a shower and bathroom, sometimes for a fee. But otherwise you can stay in the parking lot for free.
