For what its worth! Michigan and Wisconsin have very nice State Park Campgrounds. Have stayed at a number in each state. Check the state websites - only problem is reservations.

    Good luck with your journey.

Yes Wisconsin is still in the online reservation mode only. We have actually sat at the entrance forever and done the online for a spot. Works well during the week

We stay at many state parks also. Not really sure how KOA even stays in business? Every KOA we have stayed at was over priced and less amenities? In the resort areas, we can stay in a hotel as cheap as a KOA, we paid well over 100 dollars a night in Pigeon Forge KOA and our local KOA is dirt and gravel, with no sewer hook ups and is the most expensive camp ground in our area! They have even recently started charging excessive power surcharge!

Soooooo, with my 230RL, I have to put the slide out to sleep or will end up getting a hotel room.
What places are easiest to find off the interstate.....KOA's.....RV parks (if so, how do you find them while in transit?)

I know these are 101 questions but I have not had to do it yet.

    Thanks

Another idea besides county parks, Cabell's, etc. is local firehouses. Many of them have big lots and are willing to let you stay overnight as long as you're out of the way. A small $ contribution to the firehouse is also always appreciated by them. Just today I called a Social Hall at a firehouse located less than a quarter mile from an event we need to be at middle of next week. They were more than happy to allow us to spend the night, three 5th wheels traveling together... and we will each be giving them a little donation for their hospitality.

Beaver Lake is not my favorite camping spot in NWA.
I would recommend, if you can swing a few extra miles south, look at Lake Ft Smith.
In my opinion, it is a much better campground and easier to get to. Although both of them are off the interstate a bit.

I'm probably way late in the game on this, but Harvest Host has been a tremendous tool for us for 1 night stops. The fact that the sites are free is icing on the cake. 2 it 3 stays, and the membership has paid for itself.

Check into "Harvest Host" These are businesses, mostly wineries and orchards that have retail outlets on the property. They let you spend the night on their property for free with the understanding that you'll buy something from their store. You'll need to join the organization to get a membership number and that's about it. I do a search for Harvest Host sites near my planned route and give them a call. I've booked 5 in August alone. I will say this program can backfire on you... we booked a winery in Fallbook Ca and ended up buying $150.00 in wine for a free nights stay....
    Good luck with your trip.

Is that because that is all they have available to purchase? or you just liked the product that much?
