Newbie questions
So were jumping into the Toy Hauler game and will used mainly for Mountain bike and atv trips but also a place to stay at hunt camp. We looked at a lot models and brands and decided the GD 28G best suits our needs. I've figured out the depreciation on these is insane and not sure if we want a new unit or keep an eye out for 1-2yr old unit. The dealer stated they normally come off msrp 10-15% but have read 30% is more realistic and obviously helps take the depreciation hit. Now the questions.
1) What have others seen dealers take off sticker price?
2) Buying a 1-2yr old unit, what problems should I be looking for?
3) What is most common problem that arises with these?
4) What kind of preventive maintenance can I do to keep it tip top?
We're totally new to RV game and any other insight would be appreciated.
thanks

No idea on what dealers take off sticker price since we usually buy used. Let the 1st buyer fix the problems and take the depreciation hit.
Look very closely for water leaks, check the roof for tears, rips, bad caulk. If it has a Schintek slide check the operation of it a few times: all the way in and all the way out without releasing the button. Schwintek slides can be problematical. I would not seriously consider a trailer that has the Schwintek slide on any slide except the bedroom. Obviously do a thorough PDI, and take your time to make sure everything works.
One fairly common problem can be leaks in the water system called the Nautilus system, they result from loosened or mis-applied PEX clamps and fittings. The suspension system can be undersized for some, okay most, trailers. Brakes and wheel bearings need to be checked to make sure grease is where it should be, and not where it shouldn't be. Be certain your truck and trailer are a good match.Howard and Peggy

Welcome to the forum @Merk44, hope you find a coach that meets your needs. You've got some good advice from @Hoopy Frood. If you do decide to go the new root, carefully check out the dealer. There's been quite a wide range of experience communicated on this forum, some dealers treat you well, some not so much. And don't trust the dealer to tell you if your truck can tow the rig, check the numbers carefully. What will you be towing with?
