    12v Refrigerator question while driving

New to the 12v refrigerator in are 2023 Imagine 2600RB, the 2019 had electric/gas (it was in gas mode during driving).

I have an 2019 F250 and there has been some confusion whether there is a trickle charge coming from the truck. If so, is there enough to maintain the voltage to keep up the refrigerator demands on the battery while driving.

But my main question and concern are; the solar is reduced during cloud cover, not sure how it works in rain, and out of service at night. Have any of you had issues when driving during these periods and get to your destination and the refrigerator is warm or not at set temperature upon arrival?

I can be on the road a long time and at night getting to where I going because we don't usually leave until checkout time and I travel close to 400 miles, with long gas stops and lunch..not including..hey, let's go check that out!

I was thinking of running a line from my factory install switches to the trailer battery to give it voltage if needed in these incidents of travel ( long travel, rain, cloud cover)??

Battery: 1 Battle Born Lithium 100Ah

    Thanks, Rick🙂

    12v Refrigerator question while driving

Truck will charge it some but unlikely to keep up over a long period

You should have a bigger battery imo

The only way to be sure is to physically check what the refrigerator is drawing and determine what your batteries can supply. Yes, most truck batteries, excluding a DC to DC charger, will supply only minimal amperage to the trailer battery while traveling. I'm not extremely knowledgeable about solar, but I could see that cloudy, rainy days are going to affect your batteries ability to keep your fridge running.

Not sure what you mean by "factory install switches".

The fridge will only run when it calls for colder temps. If you are traveling with the fridge door closed, it won't have to run as much as during normal usage. Your alternator (assuming you have a good charge line) from the truck should be enough to keep it running.

I agree with @huntr70 in his comments above, with a footnote. Make sure that your BB is fully charged BEFORE traveling and it should be OK.

    @Intofire56 -

Here are a few forum tips:

    1) If you use "Reply With Quote" (to the right of "Reply") as I have here, folks will know to whom you are responding and that person will get a notification.

    2) You can also tag folks using the "@" symbol and their user name (as I have done yours) - they'll also get a notification that way.

    3) You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

Forum Actions (on menu bar) -> Edit Profile -> Edit Signature (under My Settings on the left)

Just bought a new 23lde and have done a lot of testing. This is what I have found on our trailer.
With everything turned off, there is still about 3/4 of an amp draw from various electronics.
With the fridge turned on, it draws about 3 1/2 amps.
Your truck should be able to keep up with the fridge with no problems.
The trailer has a 30 amp DC charger built into the inverter.
Hopes this helps others at least for a comparison.

Thank you, I'll double check the line when connected and truck running
