    Headed to Utah

We are taking a long slow journey wandering west later this summer into fall. The most difficult seems to be finding a place to camp around Moab . We were thinking about Dead Horse State Park and learned we have to bring in our water they have none for tank fills. We'll do that but finding a 2nd or 3rd choice that doesn't resemble a parking lot with barely enough room for your awning and allowing 3 dogs is proving to be a bit challenging. We aren't against dry camping long as we can get the trailer in safely. I think we have chosen a place in between Bryce and Zion .

    Any suggestions?

I have a friend in Moab and will ask if she knows the places to put a 5er. Give me a couple of days.

A few years ago we stayed at Riverside Oasis Campground & RV Park.
We really liked it. The sites were nice and well maintained.
We had two dogs at the time ( now we have 3) and they had a nice walking path.

Thanks both of you, photogent, I'll check back in a few days.

Dmc4u, we have not done much private campground camping. We usually go to State parks or forests. I'm finding that some have a 2 dog rule. I'll go read the rules at Riverside

    This may help you.
Go to discovermoab.com and click on lodging and campground. --Spanish Trails RV park. It only allows RVs and doesn't have a pool, but is quite a nice place. It is located where Spanish Trails Rd. (Drive?) joins the highway and is the direct route to our very nice golf course, so this RV park has a lot of the off-season golfers staying there, as well. It seems like that lists something about length of RVs but I am not sure.

    Re: Headed to Utah

Thanks for the link. We'll keep it bookmarked. I also downloaded an app called rvparky that gives campground listings by area you input.
That will be handy along with my notes as we wander about .

We have 3 spots reserved, in the MIs western UP on Lk Superior, a state park in MT on Flathead LK south of Glacier and a NFCG in Idaho 22 miles south of Yellowstone that looks like a great area to explore from. After Yellowstone we aren't traveling with any reservations so we're not limited or stuck in any certain spot we like or not. By then it'll be pushing near Sept and the bigger vacation season should be done so winging it as we fly should be fairly easy.

Marcy & Gary - you probably shared details on your trip and where you stayed on another thread and I have not seen that (yet.) Our daughter/SIL/grandson want us to go with them to Moab/Arches along with Zion and Bryce in May, 2019.

Have not done a lot of research yet but where did you end up staying assuming you made the trip ? Last time we visited these areas was a couple decades ago. Our Bryce pictures were/are spectacular.

Dan that part of the trip got cut along with the 2nd half of it due to a family event. My neice decided to get married and I have done most of the other neices weddings (think flowers) so did not have the heart to say no. SO if you go let us know where you stayed

BUT it is still on our list of things to do and will be bundled in another long meander west. CO, UT, ID, WA and Oregon and parts of Canada. Maybe another visit to Montana on the way home . Just loved taking a drive on Beartooth pass on a day trip and want to see more of that area too. We are thinking at least 4 months to see it all without rushing. Possibly in 2020?? We like to take it all in and not whiz through thinking we'll be back someday....live for the moment not tomorrow as they say.

Thanks, Marcy.....appreciate the update. Yup, we all know how things come up to affect plans and things usually work out.

If anyone else has recommendations in this area for the trip, please share your experiences or thoughts on where to stay. I do not think we will do any BLM or places w/o at minimum, electricity but other than that anything from a nicer quality basic campground to higher end RV resort is in the cards.

    Thanks, Dan

We are coming from Yellowstone towards Show Low.
I just booked a spot for 1 night in the middle of June at the OK RV Park in Moab.
It is a Passport America park, but middle of June is off season, so I don't know about prices
in May. My price is $22.50 a night.
    Good Luck.
